NORFOLK, Va. – Maryland Eastern Shore’s Vanessa Gomez earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Bethune-Cookman’s Bailey Conner was selected Pitcher of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore’s Samantha Casarez earned Rookie of the Week honors. 

Gomez (OF/1B, 5-4, Jr., Belleville, N.J.) went 4-for-8 (.500) with one double and one triple at the USC Upstate Spartan Invitational. She finished 3-for-3 with a run scored in a loss to Bryant.   

Conner (P, 5-9, So., Encinitas, Calif.) recorded an 0.00 ERA in three games at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational. She worked 8.2 innings, and earned a complete-game shutout against Oakland.

Cazarez (UTL, 5-1, Fr., Sylmar, Calif.)  batted 1-for-2 with two runs batted in and a run scored in a loss to Bryant at the USC Upstate Spartan Invitational.
