Big Games from Gaston, Taylor, Thomas Lead to 99-81 Win over CSU
BALTIMORE, Md. – The trio of RaShid Gaston, D’Shon Taylor and Malik Thomas could not be stopped on Saturday afternoon, and the Norfolk State men’s basketball team scored its most points all season in a 99-81 victory over Coppin State at the Physical Education Complex.
Gaston tallied a career-high 30 points on 11-of-15 shooting with 10 rebounds. He also hit 8-of-9 from the free throw line to top his previous career best of 28 points. Taylor added 23 – the second most in his career – on 9-of-14 shooting with eight boards, three assists and two steals.
The victory kept NSU two games ahead for second place in the MEAC with just three games left in the regular season. The Spartans scored their most point in a regulation game against a Division I opponent since a 102-86 victory over UMES on Feb. 12, 2000.
NSU will host Delaware State on Monday at Joseph Echols Hall for Senior Day. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU at 7 p.m.

Trapp's 3-Pointer Lifts B-CU Past FAMU
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Mikel Trapp hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:06 to help Bethune-Cookman pull away and beat Florida A&M 64-57 on Saturday.
The Wildcats stormed out to an early 11-0 lead. Trapp and Brandon Stewart each scored 11 in the first half as the Wildcats took a 38-30 halftime lead.
Bethune-Cookman travels to Savannah State Wednesday.

NCCU Clinches Share of MEAC Title With Win Over Morgan
DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University clinched at least a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular-season title on Saturday by defeating Morgan State 74-59 inside McDougald-McLendon Gym, where the Eagles have won 33 home games in-a-row.
Jordan Parks topped the Eagles with 20 points and 10 rebounds for his 10th double-double of the season. NCCU point guard Nimrod Hilliard added 19 points, seven assist and five boards, senior shooting guard Anthony McDonald sank three 3-pointers for nine points, and the Eagles’ other two starters, Karamo Jawara and Dante Holmes, chipped in eight points each.
Up next, NCCU welcomes Bethune-Cookman to McDougald-McLendon Gym on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. An Eagles victory or a Norfolk State loss clinches the regular-season title for NCCU in back-to-back years.

Pirates Fall At Home to Delaware State
HAMPTON, Va. – Despite a nine-point halftime lead, the Hampton University men’s basketball team had its three-game winning streak snapped on Saturday, falling 74-71 to Delaware State at the HU Convocation Center.
Junior guard Reginald Johnson (Chicago, Ill.) led four Pirates in double figures with 17 points, going 5-for-12 from the floor and grabbing a team-high nine rebounds, while guard Quinton Chievous (Chicago, Ill.) added 16 points and eight boards.
Delaware State (13-14, 7-5 MEAC) shot 44.6 percent (25-for-56) from the floor – including a 53.1 percent clip (17-for-32) in the second half – and made seven of 19 3-pointers (36.8 percent).
The Pirates will be in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Feb. 28 to take on Howard at 7 p.m.
