UMES' Seraus earns ECAC Rookie of the Week honor

DANBURY, Conn. — Just a day after earning the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Bowler of the Week honors, University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) junior newcomer Thashaina Seraus was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Week for bowling.

Seraus took tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors last weekend at the SFA Lumberjacks Invitational.

It is her third time this season earning the ECAC honor.

Seraus averaged an impressive 239.1 pinfall for six games, throwing 93 strikes and 50 spares in 152 frames to post a 94-percent fill percentage.  Her tournament high average was almost 18 pins better than the second-place finisher and was 105 pins better.  She even made 36 single-pin spares in just 38 tries.

She rolled a high-game of a 263 against fifth-ranked Stephen F. Austin.

Seraus and the Hawks take the weekend off before heading to the third and final MEAC Northern Division meet, February 28 and March 1 in Baltimore, Md.
