Lady Pirates Handle Morgan State On Road

BALTIMORE, Md. – Four players scored in double figures Monday evening at the Hill Field House, as the Hampton University women’s basketball team upended Morgan State 78-44 for its third straight win.

The Lady Pirates improved to 13-11 overall and 9-2 in MEAC play.

Sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) scored a game-high 24 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Senior guard Kenia Cole (Silver Spring, Md.) added 15 points, hitting three 3-pointers, while senior guard Kyani White (Manassas, Va.) and junior guard Areana Davis (Virginia Beach, Va.) each added 10 points.

The Lady Pirates will return home on Saturday to take on Delaware State at 4 p.m.

Teamwork is making Coppin State's dream a reality

DOVER, Del. -
For the first time this season, four Coppin State women's basketball players scored double figures in an 80-62 triumph over Delaware State Monday afternoon in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest at the Memorial Gym.

Redshirt freshman Genesis Lucas led the way with a career-high 22 points. She also had a game-high six assists, which included a sweet behind the back pass to Jordan Swails for a layup worthy of SportsCenter.

It was Lucas' eighth time in the past nine games with 10 or more points. Lucas is averaging 17.7 points through the last three games.

Coppin State will need to all of its confidence for Saturday's rematch with Norfolk State at 2 p.m. in the Physical Education Complex.

Lady Rattlers down NCCU Eagles 65-58

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers defeated the North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles  65-58, tonight at the Al Lawson Center on Unity in the Community night.

In her return to the Lady Rattler lineup after missing three games, junior shooting guard Olivia Antilla, led all scorers with 20 points.  Freshman Dawn King added 12 points, while Khadejra Young chipped in 11 points.

The Lady Rattlers return to action this weekend as they face rival B-CU in Daytona Beach in a 2 p.m. start.

Lady Hawks Fly Over Howard For Third Straight Win

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – On a cold and wintery night in the Delmarva area, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Basketball Team caught fire late in the second half as they knocked off the Howard Lady Bison, 61-54, inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center. With the victory, the Lady Hawks avenged their loss two weeks ago and improved to 10-13 (7-6 MEAC) on the season.

Junior Taryana Kelly (North Brunswick, N.J.) notched her second career double-double, tallying a career-high 12 points and 14 boards. Defensively, the New Jersey-native also recorded a career-high three steals in the win. Sophomore Mariah McCoy (Rock Hill, S.C.) gave UMES a spark off the bench, finishing with 13 points on 3-of-6 from downtown.

UMES hits the road in search for their fourth consecutive victory. Maryland Eastern Shore begins a three-game road swing in Orangeburg, S.C. where they will have a date with the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs. The squad looks to avenge another early season loss as the Lady Bulldogs are the lone MEAC team to knock off UMES inside the Hytche. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
