MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY WOMEN?S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Kyani White of Hampton was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Kayla Roberts of Norfolk State earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Bethune-Cookman’s Kailyn Williams was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week. 

White (G, 5-7, Sr., Manassas, Va.) set career highs in points with 28 and steals with five in an 80-61 conference win over Howard. She tied a career-high with seven rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Roberts (F, 6-1, Fr., Miami Gardens, Fla.) averaged 13.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals against Maryland Eastern Shore and Morgan State. She registered 19 points, nine boards and one assist in a 64-56 victory against Morgan State.

Williams (F, 6-5, So., New Orleans, La.) registered 15 rebounds, eight blocks and two steals in a 71-57 victory over North Carolina Central. Offensively, she recorded seven points and three assists.

Mikah Aldridge (DSU) recorded a career-high 22 points in a 78-63 loss to Florida A&M.

Rae Corbo (NSU) tallied 25 points, including four 3-pointers, five rebounds, three steals and one assist in a 64-56 win over Morgan State.

Tiyonda Davis (SSU) totaled 18 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks and two assists in victories over Coppin State and South Carolina State.

Victoria Gonzales (HOW) recorded a double-double of 23 points, 12 boards, two blocks, two steals and one assist in an 80-61 loss to Hampton.

Tierra Hawkins (DSU) registered a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds against Florida A&M.

Ezinne Kalu (SSU) finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist in a 61-53 victory over South Carolina State.

Dawn King (FAMU) tallied 18 points, on 8-of-16 shooting, with four rebounds and three assists in a 78-63 victory over Delaware State.

Genesis Lucas (CSU) registered 15 points, four assists, three steals and one rebound in a 75-61 win against Howard.

Kaylah Lupoe (HAM) recorded a career-high 11 rebounds, 10 points and six blocks in an 80-61 win over Howard.

Debbie Smith (NCAT) shot 77-percent (7-of-9) from the floor to finish with 16 points in a 67-48 win over Florida A&M.

Moengaroa Surbritzky (UMES) tallied 11 points, four boards, three assists and one steal in a 96-59 win against Delaware State.

Alexis Udoji (UMES) totaled 24 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks and four steals in back-to-back conference wins over Norfolk State and Delaware State.
