Lady Hornets Run Out of Gas Down the Stretch, Fall 78-63 to FAMU at Home
Dover, Del. - The Delaware State women's basketball team (5-17, 2-7 MEAC) were on the wrong end of a contest that featured multiple game-changing runs, falling 78-63 to the Florida A&M Rattlers (7-15, 4-6 MEAC) Monday evening at home.
With this loss, the Lady Hornets were denied their first three-game winning streak of the season, whereas FAMU snapped a brief two-game skid.
In the case of the Lady Hornets, Aldridge finished with a career-high 22 points (5-of-16), whereas Hawkins recorded her third straight double-double, 10th overall, with 16 points (5-of-13) and a team-high 10 boards.
Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will head to Princess Anne, Md. this Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) to face MEAC foe UMES. Last season, the two squads split the season series with each team winning at home.

Lady Hawks Grab Road Win At Norfolk State
NORFOLK, Va. – In their third and final road contest of a three-game road trip, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) Women’s Basketball Team grabbed a big road victory against the Norfolk State Spartans, 60-50, inside Echols Hall. The win snapped a 23-game road losing streak, dating back to November 2013.
With the victory, the Lady Hawks improved to 8-13 (5-6 MEAC) overall whereas Norfolk State dropped to 8-14 (7-4 MEAC) on the season.
Junior Alexis Udoji (Randolph, Mass.) anchored the Lady Hawks’ defense, posting a game-high four blocks. Udoji also had a team-high 10 rebounds and six points. Senior guard Jessica Long (Fort Washington, Md.) registered a team-high 13 points in the win.
UMES returns to the William P. Hytche Athletic Center to face rt. 13 rival Delaware State for Homecoming. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., followed by the men approximately at 4 p.m.

White, Lupoe Lead Lady Pirates Past Rival Howard
HAMPTON, Va. – Thanks to a career night from senior guard Kyani White and freshman forward Kayla Lupoe, the Hampton University women’s basketball team ran past rival Howard Monday evening at the HU convocation Center, taking the 80-61 win.
The Lady Pirates (12-11, 8-2 MEAC) have won 14 straight against the Bison.
White dropped a career-high 28 points on 11-for-16 shooting and a 4-for-4 effort from 3-point range, all while tying her career high with seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas added 21 points and five assists.
Lupoe recorded her first career double-double, notching a career-high 10 points and grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds – all while blocking a career-high six shots.
