NORFOLK, Va. – Howard senior Victoria Gonzales was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced today. Najai Pollard of Delaware State earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Maryland Eastern Shore’s Taryana Kelly was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Gonzales (C, 6-1, Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) shot 58-percent (22-of-38) from the floor against North Carolina Central and Mount Saint Mary’s. She poured in a career-high 33 points, on 15-of-24 shooting, with seven boards, three steals and one assist, in a 62-49 win over Mount Saint Mary’s.
Pollard (F, 5-10, Fr., Richmond, Va.) shot 50-percent (6-of-12) in a 66-44 win over Wagner. She recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds, with one steal in 27 minutes of action against the Seahawks.
Kelly (C, 6-3, Sr., North Brunswick, N.J.) totaled 21 rebounds and four blocks in three games last week. She registered 11 rebounds and two blocks in 29 minutes of action in a 56-50 win over North Carolina A&T State. Offensively, she finished with nine points, on 4-of-8 shooting, in the win against the Aggies.

Mikah Aldridge (DSU) tallied 17 points, including two 3-pointers, with five rebounds, three steals and one assist in a 66-44 win over Wagner.
Ciani Byrom (UMES) registered 22 points, five boards and four assists in a 56-50 win over North Carolina A&T State.
Kenyata Hendrix (SSU) recorded 14 points, two rebounds and one steal in against Rutgers.
Omaah Tayong (CSU) finished with 14 points, six rebounds and one steal in an 88-56 loss to Syracuse.
