PRINCESS ANNE, Md. --- The Howard University Lady Bison captured the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Championship title on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Bethune-Coookman at the W. P. Hytche Athletic Center.
The Bison won its eighth overall MEAC Volleyball Championship title and first since 1994.
Khaila Donaldson was named the Tournament Outstanding Performer. She paced the Bison with 17 kills and 16 digs. Courtney Dalton added 11 kills, while Tamia Dockery registered 22 assists and 11 digs. Morgan Marlbrough and Katherine Broussard tallied 15 and 11 digs, respectively.
Bison Head Coach Shaun Kupferberg was named the Outstanding Coach.
“It has be a long journey with these girls,” Kupferberg said. “We wanted it so bad for our seniors last year and we just couldn’t do it. It’s been a process over the past four years with the girls believing in me and I just wanted to give them something back.”
Jill Arlaud led the Lady Wildcats (15-16) offensively, while Hazel Ortiz-Rosado finished with 19 assists. Defensively Normarie Rolon-Soto registered a match-high 22 digs.
Howard (18-13), winners of 13 straight matches, advances to the NCAA Tournament in December. The Bison will find out their seeding and their opponent during the NCAA selection show on Sunday, November 29 at 9 p.m. The show will air live on ESPNU.
