MEAC ANNOUNCES VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State senior Carmen Fernandez was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week. Maryland Eastern Shore’s Lucia Babic earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced today.

Fernandez (S, 5-9, Sr., Bayamon, Puerto Rico) averaged a double-double of 38.0 assists and 10.5 digs in conference matches against Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State. She tallied 44 assists, 11 digs and two blocks in a 3-1 victory over UMES.

Babic (OH, 5-10, Fr., Sisak, Croatia) totaled 32 kills, nine blocks and eight digs against George Mason, Morgan State and Coppin State. She hit .607, with 18 kills, five blocks and two digs, in a 3-1 win over Coppin State.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Angie Darcus (NSU) tallied 12 kills and seven digs in a 3-0 loss to Howard.

Khaila Donaldson (HOW) registered 16 kills, nine digs and two service aces against Hampton.

Jasmine Jackson (DSU) posted a double-double of 20 kills and 11 digs in a loss to Morgan State.

Cindy Okpegbue (CSU) notched 27 kills, nine digs and two blocks in a 3-1 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore.

Zuzana Ondruskova (UMES) averaged a double-double of 13.3 kills and 13.6 digs against George Mason, Morgan State and Coppin State.

Delicia Pierre (B-CU) registered 12 kills and three blocks to help the Lady Wildcats to their first-ever win at Florida A&M.

Kelly Rossip (NCCU) recorded a season-high 15 kills, in a three-set win, over Savannah State.

Brooke Stamnes (NCAT) finished with a double-double of 18 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over South Carolina State.

Whitney White (NCCU) hit .462, with eight kills and four blocks, in a 3-0 victory over Savannah State.
