NCCU Defeats Allen in Home Opener
DURHAM, N.C. – After beginning the 2015-16 season on the road at Clemson, the North Carolina Central University men’s basketball team returned to McDougald-McLendon Arena and defeated Allen 78-54.
The game was a tight affair in the first half with the lead tilting back and forth as Allen (1-4) refused to go down easily. NCCU (1-1) led by as much as six early, but the Yellow Jackets rallied to push into the lead briefly.
NCCU out-scored Allen 45-28 and out-rebounded the Jackets 30-18 in the second half alone as the Eagles stretched the lead. The Eagles picked up four double-digit scoring performances and two double-doubles, led by Jeremiah Ingram with 15 points and 12 rebounds in the contest.
Jay Copeland notched a double-double as well with 15 points and 11 boards, while going 6-7 from the floor. A.J. Lynch flirted with a triple-double with 10 boards, five points and seven assists over 33 minutes.
The Eagles collected a total of 57 rebounds, which ties the school record in the Division I era.
NCCU next travels to the Barclays Center to visit LIU Brooklyn to begin a three-game road excursion on Sunday, Nov. 22.

Potts' 25 Points and Salaam's 3s Help BCU Net Road Win
MARTIN, Tenn. – Jordan Potts scored 25 points, while Josue Salaam scored all 15 of his points on second-half three-pointers as Bethune-Cookman downed Tennessee-Martin 86-79 Monday evening.
Ricky Johnson also scored 15 points, including four free throws down the stretch. LaRon Smith posted his second straight double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) as the Wildcats went to 2-0 for the first time since they won the 2010-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season championship.
This was Bethune-Cookman’s first non-conference win since a 71-65 victory at New Orleans on November 15, 2012 – a streak of 24 games.
Johnson helped ice the game with his four free throws, while Smith and Quinton Forrest each added a free throw that kept the game out of reach.
Potts also had six assists in addition to his four three-pointer. Salaam, one of nine newcomers on the roster, was 5-8 from behind the arc in the second half.
Randy Holmes had seven points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats. Mario Moody, the MEAC Player of the Week, was one rebound shy of a double-double and also scored 10 points with three assists and two blocks.
B-CU travels to face Richmond on Saturday.
