MEAC ANNOUNCES VOLLEYBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State sophomore Keana Browne and North Carolina A&T State senior Brooke Stamnes were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week. North Carolina Central’s Kierra Shipman earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced today.

Browne (MB, 6-2, So., Virginia Beach, Va.) finished with 14 kills, three blocks and two digs in a 3-1 win over Howard. She hit .500 in the match to help give the Lady Bears its best conference start since 2006.

Stamnes (OH, 5-9, Sr., Lorebrn, Saskatchewan) posted 25 kills, 11 digs, five service aces, two assists and two blocks in wins over South Carolina State and Savannah State. She recorded 13 kills, eight digs, four service aces and two assists in a 3-0 win over SCSU.

Shipman (OH, 5-11, Fr., Lawrenceville, Ga.) registered 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks against South Carolina State and Savannah State.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Khaila Donaldson (HOW) tallied 24 kills, 13 digs and nine blocks against Morgan State and Coppin State.

Kelsey Murphy (NCCU) posted a team-high 12 kills, two digs and two service aces in a three-set win over Savannah State.

Delicia Pierre (B-CU) registered 11 kills, six digs and six blocks in a 3-0 victory over Florida A&M.

Alexis Washington (SSU) totaled 30 digs, six service aces and four assists against North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central.
