SMYRNA, Del. – Maryland Eastern Shore won the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Cross Country championship title on Saturday morning after placing five runners inside the top 10 at the Delaware State University Outreach and Research Center.
UMES scored 25 points to win its sixth overall MEAC title, the second straight. The Hawks averaged a time of 25:49.28 on the 8K course.
“The team worked hard all year,” Maryland Eastern Shore head coach Earnest Barrett said. “We have a young group and that is what you build a program on. Khali (Rmidi Kinini) ran hard and his hard work continues to pay off, but again it was a total team effort.”
Maryland Eastern Shore’s Khali Rmidi Kinini was named Outstanding Performer and repeated the feat after finishing first with a time of 25:00.50.
Coach Barrett, also of Maryland Eastern Shore, was named Outstanding Coach.
Second-place honors went to North Carolina A&T State with 69 total points. Norfolk State (94), Coppin State (120) and Hampton (148) completed the top-five team finishes.
