NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has teamed up with Delaware State University (DSU) and the Susan G. Komen Foundation to host the Power of the Pink 5K Run/Walk on Friday, October 30 beginning at 4 p.m. The event will take place at the DSU Wellness and Recreation Center on the DSU campus.
The event is aimed at highlighting and showing support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Participants will wear pink bibs during the run/walk and are asked to show their support through their pink attire. Registration for the event starts at 2:30 p.m. and all proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Since its inception in 1982, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has spent nearly $1.5 billion for breast cancer education, research, advocacy, health services and social support programs in the United States and through partnerships in more than 50 countries.
The 2015 MEAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships conclude Breast Cancer Awareness month on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the DSU Outreach and Research Center in Smyrna, Delaware.
MEAC student-athletes will wear pink racing bibs and head coaches will wear pink ribbon pins during the championship. Also, the MEAC encourages fans to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
The championships will begin with the women’s five-kilometer (5K) race at 9:45 a.m., followed by the men’s eight-kilometer (8K) race at 10:30 a.m. For complete men’s and women’s cross country championship information, visit Championship Central at www.MEACSports.com
