NORFOLK, Va. - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has announced that Larry Rose, the current men’s basketball Coordinator of Officials, will also oversee the women’s basketball officials, on interim basis, effective November 1.
Rose will replace Dwight Barbee, who resigned from the position, effective Oct. 30. Barbee served as the women’s Coordinator of Officials for the last eight years.
“We want to thank Mr. Barbee for his service to the MEAC and wish him and his family continued success and good health,” said Dennis Thomas, MEAC Commissioner. “Mr. Rose will serve on interim basis for the 2015-16 season afterwards a permanent replacement will be named.”
Rose has served as the men’s basketball Coordinator of Officials since 2007. In addition to his outstanding career with the MEAC, he has extensive experience officiating in 10 other NCAA Division I conferences and has officiated in 49 conference tournaments, including 27 tournament finals and four men’s Final Fours.
