Lady Tigers Break Losing Streak
SAVANNAH, Ga. – In a tune-up game before hitting the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) schedule, the Savannah State women’s basketball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 95-47 rout of Allen University in Tiger Arena.
The win improves the program’s home record to 14-4 since the beginning of the 2013-14 season. SSU is 5-8 on the season after their final nonconference game of the year.
Returning from a concussion and two-game absence, redshirt senior and MEAC Preseason Player of the Year Ezinne Kalu led the field with 21 points, going 8-for-14 from the field.
SSU senior point guard Bria Dorsey scored double-digits for the 5th time this year with 18 points. SSU freshman Destini Bush also hit double-digits for the first time in her career with 10 points in the win.
SSU opens a four-game conference road stretch with a visit to North Carolina this coming weekend. The Lady Tigers play North Carolina A&T State on Jan. 10 and then travel across the Triad to North Carolina Central on Jan. 12.

NCCU Falls In Final Non-Conference Game To Wofford
DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University junior forward Tisha Dixon posted her second double-double of the season and senior center Racquel Davis scored her 1,000th career point, but the visiting Wofford Terriers put a damper on any post-game celebrations by beating the Lady Eagles 69-55 on Tuesday night inside McDougald-McLendon Gym.
Dixon finished with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Davis netted a team-best 16 points, 14 of which came in the second half, including her 1,000th career point on a jumper with 24 seconds left in the contest. Khyra Conerly added 10 points, five boards and four assists for NCCU (2-12).
Kentra Washington scored a career-high 20 points to go along with a team-best eight rebounds to lead Wofford (4-10). Chanel Stokes contributed 17 points for the Terriers, while Ashton Fleming chipped in 11 points and seven caroms.
The victory ends a five-game losing skid for Wofford, while NCCU’s streak of deficits extends to nine heading into the thick of conference play on Saturday, Jan. 10 against South Carolina State at 2 p.m. inside McDougald-McLendon Gym in Durham, North Carolina.
