MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY WOMEN?S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Alexis Udoji of Maryland Eastern Shore and Hampton’s Malia Tate-DeFreitas were chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Maryland Eastern Shore teammate Moengaroa Subritzky earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Morgan State’s Zuri White was selected the Defensive Player of the Week.

Udoji (F/C, 6-4, Jr., Randolph, Mass.) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds in an 86-73 win over Monmouth. She scored all 22 points in the second half, on 9-of-10 shooting, and recorded two steals and one block in only 23 minutes of play.

Tate-DeFreitas (G, 5-8, So., Harrisburg, Pa.) totaled 43 points, seven rebounds and three steals against Bowling Green and Auburn at the FIU Sun and Fun Classic. She registered 26 points, including four 3-pointers, and three boards against Bowling Green and was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

Subritzky (G, 5-10, Fr., Auckland, New Zealand) finished with her second-career double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds in the 86-73 victory over Monmouth. She shot 93-percent (13-of-14) from the charity stripe and added four assists.

White (G, 5-8, Fr., Durham, N.C.) totaled 26 rebounds, 11 points and three steals against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and Brown. She grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds, including eight defensively, in a 59-52 loss to Brown.

 

Other Top Performances

Olivia Antilla (FAMU) recorded 18 points, on 7-of-14 shooting, with seven rebounds in a loss to Mercer.

Khyra Conerly (NCCU) tallied eight assists, five steals, five points and four boards against Bluefield State.

Rae Corbo (NSU) notched 22 points, including 11-of-14 from the free-throw line, in a loss to USC-Upstate.

Kayla Crawford (B-CU) recorded a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-53 win over Western Carolina.

Racquel Davis (NCCU) amassed a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Bluefield State.

Braennan Farrar (MSU) recorded 15 points, two rebounds and two assists in a 54-46 win over the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Jessica Long (UMES) registered seven points, six assists, five steals and two rebounds in an 86-73 win over Monmouth.

Danielle Robinson (MSU) averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals against the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and Brown.

Kailyn Williams (B-CU) recorded 10 points, seven blocks and three rebounds in a 63-53 win over Western Carolina.
