UMES fan wins NCAA Basketball National Monthly Ticket Giveway

INDIANAPOLIS - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Carlos Dorman as a winner of its Division I men's basketball National Monthly Ticket Giveaway. Mr. Dorman was randomly selected to receive two tickets to the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Final Four in Indianapolis, Indiana, April 4 and 6, 2015.

"The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is excited to use this platform to engage directly with our basketball fans to offer them the ultimate college basketball experience," said G. Stan Bradley, Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs.

The National Monthly Ticket Giveaway gives fans at every Division I school a chance to win either 2015 NCAA tournament tickets or (in most cases) conference tournament tickets, awarded by random drawing each month from Dec. 10, 2014, through Feb. 11, 2015. Over the course of the sweepstakes, the NCAA and participating Division I schools will award as many as 64 tickets to fans that register through their school for the monthly drawing.

The monthly winner has a choice to receive two tickets to one of the following:
• 2015 NCAA Men's Final Four April 4 &6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
• One of the preliminary-round sites of the 2015 Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
• The conference tournament that the winner's school participates in during the post season (with a few exceptions).

UMES took fan registrations at each home basketball game in December. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) manned a booth where they were raising funds and awareness for their organization and the larger body of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) SAAC group. There was no requirement to register and fans, students, staff, and faculty were available to "put their name into the hat" to be selected.

"The NCAA recognizes the incredible value that our students and fans bring to the excitement of NCAA Basketball throughout the regular season," said Dan Gavitt, NCAA vice president of men's basketball, "This promotion provides us an opportunity to show our fans that the madness of NCAA Basketball is not limited to March." UMES will continue to collect registrations throughout the season and submit two more names to the NCAA to be able to win, just like Mr. Dorman.

"Aw, man, this is exciting," said Dorman. "I haven't been to a Final Four and to be able to go this year is just amazing, thank you UMES and thank you NCAA."
