MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY MEN'S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Kendall Gray of Delaware State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  DSU teammate Todd Hughes earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Gray (C, 6-10, 240, Sr., Dover, Del.) posted back-to-back double-doubles in two conference victories against Howard and South Carolina State. He totaled 41 rebounds, 30 points, six assists and five blocks. He finished with a career-high 23 rebounds, 16 points and five blocks to help the Hornets to a 60-49 win over South Carolina State.  He also grabbed 18 rebounds, 14 points and shot 85-percent (6-of-7) from the free-throw line in a 79-76 conference win over Howard.

Hughes (G, 6-2, 200, Fr., Smyrna, Del.) averaged 16.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals in conference victories over Howard and South Carolina State.  He shot 9-of-14 from the field and 4-of-5 from behind the 3-point line to finish with 25 points and three rebounds against Howard.

Ryan Andino (UMES) registered nine points in an 87-57 conference win over Savannah State.

Quintin Brewer (B-CU) tallied 13 points and seven rebounds in a 58-53 conference win over Coppin State.

Jordan Butler (NSU) tallied six rebounds and one assist in a 79-55 conference win over Bethune-Cookman.

James Carlton (HOW) finished with 27 points and six rebounds in a 79-76 loss to Delaware State.

Delino Dear (B-CU) registered 14 points and 13 rebounds in a 58-53 win over Coppin State.

Karamo Jawara (NCCU) totaled eight points, eight rebounds and six assists in back-to-back conference wins over Savannah State and Norfolk State.

Devin Martin (UMES) averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in conference wins over Morgan State and Savannah State.

Dwight Meikle (HAM) averaged 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists against conference opponents Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T State.

Mike Myers (UMES) registered 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals in an 87-57 win over Savannah State.

Jordan Parks (NCCU) finished with 24 points, nine boards and two steals in a victory over Norfolk State.

Jorge Rosa (FAMU) totaled 31 points and nine rebounds against Hampton and Morgan State.

Jermaine Ruttley (FAMU) tallied 24 points, on 12-of-14 from the free-throw line and 12 rebounds in a loss to Morgan State.

Jeff Short (NSU) registered 31 points, on 11-of-17 shooting, against conference opponent North Carolina Central.

Malik Thomas (NSU) tallied seven points, six rebounds and five blocks in a 79-55 conference win over Bethune-Cookman.
