Lady Hornets Make it Two in a Row, Cruise Past In-State Foe Wilmington, 74-44
(Dover, Del.) – In the first of a season-long three-game homestand, the Delaware State women’s basketball team (3-11) came away with a convincing 74-44 victory Wednesday night over the Wilmington Wildcats (4-13), behind forward Tierra Hawkins’ third consecutive double-double tallying season-highs in points (28), rebounds (13) and blocks (3).
With this win, it marked the first time this season DSU has recorded back-to-back wins, whereas Wilmington has now dropped four out of its last five games.
Defensively, for the second straight game, Delaware State allowed its lowest scoring output of the season, along with holding the Wildcats to under 30 percent (17-of-59) shooting.
Coming up, DSU will look to make it three in a row on Saturday afternoon (2 p.m.) against MEAC foe South Carolina State.
