Tigers Open Cross Country Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Savannah State cross country teams competed in the Eye Opener Invitational, their first meet of the season, on September 5. The meet was hosted by South Carolina-Upstate.

Senior Asea Mayfield was the first SSU runner to cross the finish line for the Savannah State women's team.

Mayfield finished the race with a time of 24:24.23 for 93rd place out of 157 runners.

The SSU women's squad consisted of one senior one junior and three freshmen.

Women’s Cross Country Finishes 12th at USC Upstate Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State women’s cross country team finished 12th at the 2014 USC Upstate Eye Opener on Friday.

The Lady Bulldogs were paced by Jennell Jones who placed 24th in the 5k race in 20 minutes, 36.21 seconds. Davidson’s Sarah Sears was the overall winner after running a time of 18:59.66.

Jenae Jones was SC State’s second finisher in 21:30.10, while the other Jones sister, Jazmyne, posted a time 21:47.66.

Jacoy Hutto (24:30.34), Breonna Green (25:26.05) and Nikki Jefferson (26:30.52) rounded out the rest of the Lady Bulldog finishers.
