Men's Cross Country Recap: Sept. 5

Tigers Open Cross Country Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Savannah State cross country teams competed in the Eye Opener Invitational, their first meet of the season, on September 5. The meet was hosted by South Carolina-Upstate. 

Sophomore Micah Richards was the first SSU runner to cross the finish line for the Savannah State men's team, respectively.

Richards ran the 8k course in 30 minutes and 12.19 seconds which was good enough for 49th place overall among the 133 runners.

Freshmen Corey Jones (31:04.53) and Kenneth Nealy (32:19.14) were 55th and 77th overall while junior Brandon Davis (33:58.66) was 89th. Freshmen Randolph Barrett (36:00.67) and Collins King (36.22:91) round out the Tiger participants.

Men’s Cross Country Comes in 16th at USC Upstate Eye Opener

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The South Carolina State men’s cross country team turned in a 16th-place finish at the 2014 USC Upstate Eye Opener on Friday.

Elijah Case led the Bulldog effort, finishing the 8K race in 31:42.79. Daniel Samet of Davidson won the race in 26:20.92.

Brandon Lowery finished next, with a time of 35:15.23. Keshon Green (41:40.36), Khorvon Nelson (44:41.36) and Taj Jones (46:47.64) also competed in the race for SC State.

The Bulldogs have 12 days to prepare for the Winthrop Invitational on Sept. 20.
