NORFOLK, Va., September 15, 2014 – Morgan State junior Arianna Hayden and Howard senior Assata Conway were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Co-Players of the Week. Howard’s Khaila Donaldson earned the Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Hayden (Jr., Chicago, Ill.) totaled 36 kills, 29 digs, 14 blocks and five service aces at the 10th Annual Friar Classic. She registered a 14-dig, 13-kill match in a win against Providence and also set a career-high with six blocks against Farleigh Dickinson. Hayden earned tournament MVP honors in helping the Lady Bears to a perfect 3-0 weekend.
Conway (Sr., Missouri City, Texas.) was selected the MVP of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic while helping Howard secure the championship with wins against Florida Atlantic, Tulane, and Southeastern Louisiana. She totaled a season-high 22 kills and .588 hitting percentage in a win against Tulane, and had a 12-block, 11-kill performance in the tournament opener against Florida Atlantic.
Donaldson (Fr., Vernon Hills, Ill.) helped Howard complete a 4-0 week with 56 kills, 35 digs, and 11 blocks. Donaldson recorded 20 kills 17 digs and 6 blocks against Florida Atlantic.

Hope Forsythe (NSU) accrued 25 kills and 12 digs against Niagara, Pittsburgh, and Duquesne.
Bailee Jackson (CSU) recorded 10 digs in a road match against American.
Jessica Johnson (NSU) logged a career-high 21 kills against Niagara at the Panther Classic.
Hazel Ortiz-Rosado (BCU) recorded five kills, five blocks, and five digs against Montana State.
Paige Phillips (NCCU) compiled 38 assists and 12 digs against Charleston Southern.
Kelly Rossip (NCCU) was named to the 2014 Wingate Invitational All-Tournament team after registering 16 kills against Charleston Southern.
Pamela Soriano (FAMU) was selected to the West Longhorn Invitational All-Tournament team after posting 13 kills and nine digs against #23 Arizona.
Vendula Strakova (Hampton) registered 31 kills and 13 digs in a five-set loss against Presbyterian at the Tiny Laster Classic Memorial.
Kandace Thomas (CSU) recorded eight kills in a win against UMBC at the Maddie Bingaman Memorial Tournament.
