Cross Country Opens Season at William & Mary Invite
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Hampton University men’s and women’s cross country teams opened the 2014 season Friday evening in the William and Mary Invitational, which was held at Dunbar Farms at Eastern State Hospital.
The Lady Pirates came in fifth in the women’s 5K race, while the Pirates did not record a team score in the men’s 6K race.
Junior Ce’aira Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) paced the Lady Pirates, turning in a 19:32.60 to come in 12th. Junior Kaylor Murray (Nashville, Tenn.) ran a 22:30.80 to come in 42nd, while senior Malekah Holland (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was 43rd with a 22:37.20.
Sophomore Yolanda Springer (Coconut Grove, Fla.) ran a 23:50.50 to finish 47th, while junior Maya Moore (Hampton, Va.) was 48th with a 23:58.50.
Sophomore Kanitra Hatton (Portsmouth, Va.) ran a 24:18.00 to come in 50th.
Freshman Eric Ellis (Chesapeake, Va.) led the Pirates on the men’s side, turning in a 22:00.00 to come in 38th. Senior Edose Ibadin (Glendale, Md.) was 39th with a 22:21.40, while junior Quentin Morales-Perryman (Woodbridge, Va.) ran a 22:25.70 to finish 40th.
