WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Coppin State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to American University at Bender Arena Wednesday night in a non-conference match.
Coppin State’s overall record slipped to 4-4 after it fell 25-15, 25-13 and 25-19. Leading Coppin State was junior Cindy Okpegbue, who had 12 kills. Ariel Richard added eight kills along with nine digs.
Richard raised her career kill total to 991. The Eagles registered 12 of their 30 kills in the third set.
Chelsee Sauni’s 26 assists and Bailee Jackson’s 10 digs led Coppin State. As a team, the Eagles had 37 digs.
American, which received seven votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, was paced by Kelly McCaddlin’s 11 kills. American improved its overall record to 4-2.
