Comeback Comes Too Late for Aggies
GREENVILLE, N.C. – A dominant start from the North Carolina A&T volleyball team in the third set came a little too late in a 3-0 (25-10, 15, 18) setback to East Carolina Tuesday evening at Williams Arena in a non-conference match.
Ball handling errors along with hot hands from East Carolina (4-0) hurt A&T (0-8) early in the match. The Pirates outhit the Aggies .375-.000 in the first set and turned it up more in the second set when they registered a hitting percentage of .455.
A&T showed progression in the second set but took its first lead of the match in the third set by opening it up on a 5-0 run.
The Pirates finally got on the board and scored the next three points. An A&T error had the set deadlocked at seven and from that point on both teams went head-to-head, with neither team taking more than a one point edge. That changed when a kill from junior Brooke Stamnes tied the game at 12 and the Pirates unleashed a 5-0 run. Junior Aleena McDaniel delivered a kill to give the Aggies the next point as they cut ECU’s advantage to 17-13. The Pirates regained control of the set despite the Aggies putting up a battle.

With the Bulldogs on top late in the set, the Eagles were unable to regain their upper hand as they fell 25-23.
