NCCU's Ingram signs first professional contract

DURHAM, N.C. – Jeremy Ingram, a former North Carolina Central University men’s basketball standout signed his first professional contract as the Charlotte, N.C. native will play for the Adanaspor Tigers in the Turkish Basketball Second League.

“I still can’t believe it,” said Ingram. “I feel very blessed and fortunate for another opportunity to be successful doing something I love.  This is what I’ve worked my whole life for.”

The 2013-14 MEAC Player of the Year led NCCU to its first NCAA Division I Tournament berth as the Eagles finished the amazing season 28-6, the most victories in a season by a men’s team in the MEAC’s history.  Ingram was second in the conference in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game, and was fourth in the conference in steals, collecting 1.6 thefts per game.

“Here’s a young man that had very few scholarship offers coming out of high school and now he has signed a professional contract,” said NCCU head coach LeVelle Moton.  “He’s the prime example for hard work, determination, and toughness.  This is only the tip of the iceberg for his career and family.”

With his tremendous final season came a host of accolades as Ingram earned the MEAC Tournament’s Most Outstanding Performer award, NABC Division I All-District 15 First Team, the Lou Henson All-American Team, and BoxToRow HBCU National Player of the Year.  He ended his tenure at NCCU sixth all-time in scoring with 1,525 points and was third all-time with 170 three-pointers made in his career.

There are a total of 18 teams in the Turkish Basketball Second League with the top two teams being promoted to the Turkish Basketball First League for the next season.

Adanaspor Basketball was founded in 2006 and is located in Adana, Turkey, which is in the southern part of the country. Adana is the fifth-most populous city in Turkey.
