NSU's Clark Invited to Attend The Center for Coaching Excellence

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State women’s basketball head coach Debra Clark has been selected to attend The Center for Coaching Excellence presented by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in partnership with Columbia University Athletics, which will be held June 9-11 in New York City.

The Center for Coaching Excellence is a two-and-half-day intensive leadership training program, based on best practices in leadership development. The Center for Coaching Excellence utilizes small group learning and self-assessment to introduce coaches to various aspects of leadership and provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of the importance of ethics and integrity women’s college basketball.

Clark enters her sixth season in charge of the NSU women’s basketball team in 2014-15. She led the Spartans to a 12-16 overall and 8-8 record in MEAC play during the 2013-14 season. Last season marked just the third time in 12 seasons that NSU has reached double-digit wins.

In order to be selected for the two-day workshop, coaches must be currently employed as a college women’s basketball coach at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level and an active member of the WBCA.
