NCCU?s Kienka named to CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Team

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University men’s tennis junior Tamina Kienka was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team, in District 3, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday, May 15.

The Lagos, Nigeria native currently maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a Biology major with a concentration in Pre-Med at NCCU.

During the 2014 season, Kienka spent most of the season as the Eagles No. 3 singles competitor, while he split time between No. 1 and No. 2 during doubles play.

Off the courts, the newly elected president of the student honor council at NCCU was recently approved to establish a chapter of GlobeMed at NCCU.

Kienka also has been selected for Howard Hughes Medical Institute summer internship (2014), is a Chancellor's Scholar, a member of the University Honors Program and the Golden Key International Honors Society.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada while District 3 includes division I universities/colleges from North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee.

The 2014 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and academically from men’s fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling while the student-athletes considered must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
