Two SSU Student-Athletes Selected For NCAA Forum

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time in Savannah State Athletics’ history, two student-athletes will represent the Tigers at the NCAA’s Career in Sports Forum (CSF), June 5-8.

SSU volleyball’s Justice Dilworth and football’s Alex Wierzbicki will be among the 200 student-athletes selected from a pool of more than 450,000 potential candidates nationwide.

The CSF is an educational forum, hosted by the NCAA and held at the headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana each year, designed to help student-athletes explore potential careers in sports.

In addition to helping with post-college careers, the conference was also designed to give participants a chance to network, and the opportunity to learn from current athletics professionals.

Student-athletes participating must have met the NCAA’s criteria in relation to athletic eligibility and participation in an NCAA sanctioned sport during the 2013-14 academic year.

A selection committee at the NCAA reviewed and selected individuals based on an application submitted by each institution and the student-athlete.

The application consists of questions regarding the student-athlete’s choice to pursue a career in athletics, an athlete’s impact on society, both negative and positive, why high academic standards are important, and why diversity is important.
