MEAC Announces Softball Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State senior Taylor McDougall earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday. Delaware State’s Rachel Meagley and Florida A&M’s Ashleigh Minter were selected Co-Pitchers of the Week, while DSU’s Vanessa Ciocatto earned Rookie of the Week accolades. 

McDougall (INF, Sr., Edmonton AB, Canada) went 6-for-8, with two RBIs, one double, one home run and three scored runs scored, against Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State. McDougall went 2-for-3, including one home run, two runs, and two RBIs, in a win against Maryland Eastern Shore.

Meagley (P, Sr., Spokane, Wash.) gave up five hits and one run, including a one-hitter in a win against Drexel. Against Howard, Meagley struck out two, gave up four hits and one run.

Minter (P, Sr., Chula Vista, Calif.) threw a five-inning no-hitter against South Carolina State. Minter struck out five against Troy and South Carolina State.

Ciocatto (P, Fr., La Habra, Calif.) appeared in two games, pitching a total of 12 innings and struck out four in a win against Drexel. She also surrendered two runs in the victory.

 

Other Top Performers: 

Chelsea Alston (UMES) went 2-for-3 with one double against Morgan State.

Denise Anderson (FAMU) went 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI against South Carolina State.

Sabrina Anguiano (BCU) pitched 20.2 innings with six strikeouts against Jacksonville and Savannah State.

Jordan Eades (MSU) had a combined 1.75 ERA against Maryland Eastern Shore and Delaware State.

Sommer Di Fulgo (NSU) went 1-for-2, with one double, against North Carolina Central.

Brielle Gordon (FAMU) registered six RBIs, including one triple and one double, against South Carolina State.  

Sandy Hawthorne (DSU) had four doubles in a three-game series sweep of Howard.

Liz Riley (NSU) pitched a 1-0 complete-game win against North Carolina Central.

Calesha Shelley (BCU) had a triple and two RBIs against Savannah State.

Kate Vosper (MSU) smacked one home run in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore.
