NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State bowling student-athletes and coaches will be the stars on-hand during the 32nd annual Celebrity Night this Thursday as put on by the organization Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads (PCAHR).
The event is held at several restaurants throughout the area, where local celebrities help raise funds and awareness for child abuse in the area. The NSU bowlers will be at the Azalea Inn from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday. The restaurant is located at 2344 East Little Creek Road in Norfolk.
Other restaurants taking part in PCAHR’s Celebrity Night including 4•5•6 Fish in Norfolk; Roger Brown’s Restaurant and Sports Bar in Portsmouth; Cedar Point Country Club in Suffolk; IL Giardino Ristorante in Virginia Beach; and Baker’s Crust in Chesapeake.
“This is the third year in a row we have participated in Celebrity Night, and our student-athletes really embrace and take to heart what this event means to the community,” said head coach Wilhelmenia Harrison. “Many of our bowlers are social work or sociology majors, so this is something that they will experience and be dealing with first-hand after they graduate. But most importantly, it is just great that we can support a cause like this.”
Each restaurant contributes a substantial portion of their evening’s revenues to support the PCAHR organization. Local celebrities help entertain restaurant patrons, help sell raffle tickets and other promotional items, and gather tips for PCAHR.
