Williams to Compete in Reese?s College All-Star Game

NORFOLK, Va. – Senior guard Pendarvis Williams of the Norfolk State basketball team has been selected to compete in this year’s Reese’s College All-Star Game on April 4 in Dallas.

The game, run in conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), will begin at 4:30 p.m. at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, site of the 2014 Final Four. The contest will take place on that Friday of the Final Four weekend in an East vs. West format. Admission is free.

Williams becomes the first MEAC player to compete in the all-star game, now in its sixth year of existence.

An NABC All-District 15 first-team honoree, Williams was also named second-team all-MEAC this year in addition to earning a spot on the MEAC all-tournament team. He finished his career 15th all-time at NSU in scoring with 1,646 points and also ranks in the school’s top 20 in games played (1st, 132), 3-point field goals (2nd, 217), steals (10th, 137), free throws (12th, 339), assists (15th, 270) and blocks (20th, 55).

He is one of just two players all-time at NSU along with career scoring leader Ralph Tally to tally 1,600 points, 500 rebounds, 200 assists, 100 steals and 50 blocks in a career. Williams played key roles in NSU’s three-straight postseason appearances the last three years, including the school’s upset of No. 2 seed Missouri in the 2012 NCAA tournament.

The Reese’s College All-Star Game consists of 20 of the top senior college basketball players in the country who have exhausted their eligibility. It is played as part of the events held on the Friday of the Final Four weekend, including practices by all four participants prior to the all-star game.
