Morgan State Stays Undefeated in MEAC Play, Defeat UMES
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Morgan State men's tennis team pitched its first shutout of the season and improved to 2-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), defeating the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore 4-0 Sunday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Courts. The Bears (2-8) improve to 2-0 in home matches.
The Bears made quick work of a Hawks team that only had four available players for the contest. Morgan State was credited with wins as a result of defaults at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions. The Bears also captured a doubles win and after Evan Ward ousted Kijontray McClay, 6-0, 6-0, the match was over.
Morgan State’s No. 2 pairing of Ty Abraham and Josh Abraham wasted little time earning the doubles point against Wayne Heath and Mohin Uddin, 8-0.
The Bears now turn to a pair of non-conference matches. First up, is a date in Fairfax (Va.) to take on George Mason on Friday, March 28, followed the next day by a matchup in Philadelphia (Pa.) at Drexel.
