NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State’s Duk Young-Park and Bethune-Cookman’s Elizabeth Nwenye was chosen as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Friday for matches played March 3-9. Bethune-Cookman’s Mina Matsuba was named the Women’s Tennis Rookie of the Week.
Young-Park (Jr., Silver Spring, Md.) posted a straight sets victory against Hampton 6-2, 6-2.
Nwenye (Sr., London, England) only relinquished one set in a 6-0 record for the week in singles matches. Nwenye won three doubles matches against Norfolk State, North Carolina Central, and North Carolina A&T.
Matsuba (Fr., Mie, Japan) went 5-1 in singles, including an undefeated 5-0 in MEAC action. She also went undefeated in doubles, posting a 4-0 overall week and 3-0 in MEAC play.
