Coppin State drops decision to Navy
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Coppin State men’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the Naval Academy Saturday afternoon.
The match was very competitive and much closer than the final score indicated.
The Eagles (0-2 overall) made the midshipmen earn this victory especially in the singles matches where many of them were close. Roderick Payton battled hard at fourth singles before surrendering a 6-2, 7-5 decision. Daniel Nino gave a strong effort at No. 2 singles before dropping the match, 6-4, 6-1.
Coppin State will return to action Sunday afternoon when it visits UMBC in a match starting at 3:00 p.m.

Lady Hornets sting Lady Hawks in pair of matches
LEWES, Del. - The women's tennis team made some improvements in their second matchup of the year, but it was not enough as the Hornets defeated the Hawks in two matches this past Friday at the Marshall Tennis Courts.
The results means the team starts the 2014 season at 0-3 and 0-2 in MEAC conference play.
Delaware State won both matches by scores of 7-0. In the first match, the Lady Hornets won the four singles matches in straight sets by scores of 6-0.
The Lady Hawks did pick up a game victory in the No. 1 doubles competition before the team of sophomore Reine Fowajuh and junior Jasmine Jennings were
defeated in the set, 8-1. Meanwhile, the No. 2 doubles team fell 8-0 to the Lady Hornets.
UMES was met with similar results in the second match, where the Lady Hornets took the one-set singles competition, four games to none, all by scores of 8-0. In the doubles competition, the Lady Hornets won both matches by single set scores of 6-0.
The Lady Hornets improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in MEAC play on the season. For the Lady Hawks, they open up their home schedule in a match against Stevenson University on Wednesday. Match time is 2pm.
