ORLANDO, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman won the doubles point, but UCF controlled singles play and took a 5-2 victory over the Lady Wildcats Wednesday afternoon.
The No. 1 doubles combo of Maria Sablina and Mina Matsuba remained unbeaten on the year with a 6-4 win over UCF’s Cortney Cesarani/Sofia Baptista, then Chinatsu Kajiwara and Gaby Chinchilla took a 6-2 decision over Caroline Eberhart and Annika Hepp to give the Lady Wildcats (1-2) a 1-0 lead.
Matsuba registered B-CU’s lone victory at No. 1 single as the Knights (2-1) posted five straight set wins to take the match.
B-CU returns to action Saturday against Florida Atlantic and Nova Southeastern.
