UMES Second In Latest NTCA Media Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) women's bowling team remained in second place in the latest National Tenpins Coaches Association (NTCA) media poll, the organization announced earlier this week.

The Lady Hawks (60-13) garnered 191 points to stand in a tie for second place with Nebraska.  The Huskers did however earn one first place vote.

The vote is slightly different than the coaches' poll where UMES is tied for third with Fairleigh Dickinson.  In that poll Nebraska is in second place by themselves while FDU and UMES share the tie.  In the latest media poll the Knights are fourth place with 177 points.

The University of Central Missouri rounds out the poll's top five teams.

Arkansas State is the poll's number one team again.  They are one of the hottest teams in the nation, standing at 74-22 and coming off a 15-1 record at the Kat Klash, an event UMES couldn't compete in due to cancelled flights surrounding the latest winter storm in the area.

Rounding out the top ten are Stephen F. Austin in 6th, Sam Houston State in 7th, Vanderbilt in 8th, Wisconsin-Whitewater in 9th and St. Francis (PA) in 10th.

Fellow MEAC schools North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State also earned votes and are in 17th and 19th places respectively.

UMES is back in action this weekend March1-2 in Baltimore, Md. when they travel to the third and final Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Northern Division match-up.
