BALTIMORE, Md. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Tuesday announced that junior Duk Young-Park and sophomore Evan Ward are ranked among the top 60 teams in the country.
The duo is ranked 48th in the NCAA Division I men’s tennis rankings posted by the ITA. This is the highest ranking an MSU team has achieved in school history, and the duo is the first to break into the national doubles rankings.
The duo broke into the national doubles rankings following a huge upset (8-7,7) of Liberty’s No. 19 ranked doubles team of Shea Thomas and Jorge Azuero.
“I talk to the players a lot about needing signature wins and taking care of their opportunities when we play top nationally ranked teams,” said MSU head coach Sean Holcomb-Jones. “Duk and Evan were able to seize their opportunity against Liberty and were rewarded for it with a national ranking I am very proud if them. “
They are the only pair ranked from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, and are one of only three teams ranked in the Atlantic region.
The duo is on pace for a breakthrough season, and return to action on March 7th to host the Hampton Pirates at Morgan State’s newly renovated tennis courts.
