NORFOLK, Va. – Jeremy Ingram of North Carolina Central was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. James Daniel of Howard earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Norfolk State’s Brandon Goode and Hampton’s Du’Vaughn Maxwell were named Co-Defensive Players of the Week.
Ingram (G, 6-3, 175, Sr., Charlotte, N.C.) recorded back-to-back 30-point performances, including a 38 scoring outing against Savannah State. For the week, Ingram averaged 34.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals in 34.0 minutes. He shot 50-percent from the field (18-of-36) and 84-percent from the free-throw line (27-of-32). He also knocked down five baskets from long range to help the Eagles finish 2-0 last week.
Daniel (G, 5-11, 165, Fr., Hampton, Va.) scored a career-high 38 points, connecting on 8-of-16 shots from the field, and 6-of-10 from behind the arc in a loss to Hampton. He hit 16 of 24 free-throws and recorded three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes of play.
Goode (C, 7-0, 235, Sr., Bronx, N.Y.) hauled down 11 rebounds in a 73-68 win over Coppin State. Offensively, he added 15 points and one assist in the win.
Maxwell (F, 6-7, 215, Sr., Manhattan, N.Y.) grabbed 10 boards, nine defensive, and registered one steal in 81-78 win over Howard. Maxwell added 19 points, shooting 50-percent from the field (5-of-10).
Other Top Performances
Kendall Gray (DSU) recorded back-to-back double-doubles totaling 31 points and 23 points against Florida A&M and Maryland Eastern Shore.
DeAndre Haywood (DSU) poured in a career-high 20 points, hitting 7-of-12 from the field, with two rebounds and two assists against Florida A&M.
Troy Snyder (UMES) averaged 21.7 points and 9.0 rebounds in three games last week.
Devon Walker (UMES) scored a career-high 22 points, with three assists and one steal, against Morgan State.
Pendarvis Williams (NSU) registered 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal in a 73-68 win over Coppin State.
