Spartan Bowling Ranked 19th in Latest NTCA Poll

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State bowling team jumped back into the national rankings this week with the release of the December National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll. NSU currently ranks 19th in the top-20 poll.

The Spartans collected 38 points to finish just ahead of No. 20 Tulane, which had 36 points. Both schools were not ranked in the previous poll that came out before the season.

They were also one of four MEAC schools to get ranked, following No. 9 UMES, No. 10 North Carolina A&T and No. 16 Delaware State.

It marks the first time NSU has been ranked since finishing last season at No. 19.

Nebraska garnered 21 of the 27 first-place votes, with Fairleigh Dickinson, Arkansas State, Central Missouri and Sam Houston State rounding out the top 5.

NSU currently owns a 27-14 overall record, including 10-6 in the MEAC Southern Division. The Spartans will not compete again until the Fred Underwood Classic from Jan. 16-18 in Laurel, Md.
