NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton sophomore Malia Tate-DeFreitas and Norfolk State senior Rae Corbo were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Florida A&M’s Dawn King was named Rookie of the Week, while North Carolina A&T State’s Eboni Ross earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Tate-DeFreitas (So., 5-8, G, Harrisburg, Pa.) averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals against Lehigh, Penn and Richmond. She registered 27 points, on 12-of-24 shooting with three 3-pointers, and eight rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 58-43 victory over Penn.
Corbo (Sr., 5-6, G, Englewood, N.J.) scored a season-high 25 points, on 6-of-9 shooting, to lead the Spartans to a 68-63 conference victory over Morgan State. She went 10-for-12 from the charity stripe, including a pair of shots with 20 seconds left to seal the win.
King (Fr., 5-9, G, Waxahachie, Texas) shot 73-percent (11-of-15) from the floor, including 49-percent from behind the 3-point line (3-of-7), to finish with 26 points and three rebounds in a 55-50 win against South Carolina State.
Ross (r-Jr., 6-3, F/C, Columbia, S.C.) averaged 11.5 rebounds, 11.5 points, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals against Davidson and Howard. She grabbed a career-high 16 boards, along with 17 points, two blocked shots and two steals in a 62-59 overtime win against Davidson. Ross also added seven rebounds and two blocked shots in a 80-69 victory against Howard.

Mikah Aldridge (DSU) recorded 17 points, two assists and two steals against Virginia.
Nikkei Blackburn (DSU) matched a career-high with 14 rebounds and 12 points in a loss to Virginia.
Kayla Crawford (B-CU) registered a double-double of 14 rebounds and 10 points in a 60-42 non-conference win over Edward Waters.
Tiyonda Davis (SSU) finished with 10 points, five rebounds, four blocked shots and one steal in a 68-58 win over Florida.
Braennan Farrar (MSU) tallied 10 points, five assists and four rebounds in a loss to Norfolk State.
Michelle Fitzgerald (NCAT) totaled 14 points, 11 rebounds and three steals against Davidson and Howard.
Tyler Habgood (HAM) recorded 17 rebounds and six points in a 58-43 victory over Penn.
Te’Shya Heslip (HOW) poured in 21 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and two steals in a loss to North Carolina A&T State.
Ezinne Kalu (SSU) totaled 21 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals in a 68-58 non-conference victory over Florida.
Debbie Smith (NCAT) scored a career-high 22 points, on 7-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers in an 80-69 victory over Howard.
Kayla Roberts (NSU) registered a career-high 17 rebounds and 11 points in a 68-63 win over Morgan State.
Lexus Spears (MSU) finished with 15 points, on 7-of-12 shooting, and seven rebounds in a 68-63 loss to Norfolk State.
Moengaroa Subritzky (UMES) recorded 15 points, on 4-of-8 shooting, three assists and three rebounds in a 58-43 win over Mount St. Mary’s.
Kailyn Williams (B-CU) averaged 12.0 rebounds, 9.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks against Edward Waters and Savannah State.
Kourtney Williams (SCSU) totaled 36 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists against Wofford and Florida A&M.
