MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY MEN?S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Mike Myers of Maryland Eastern Shore was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Ryan Andino, also from UMES, earned Rookie of the Week honors, while Coppin State’s Sterling Smith was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Myers (F, 6-9, 245, Sr., Camden, N.J.) averaged 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in back-to-back wins over St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. He shot 69-percent (9-of-13) from the field to finish with a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 78-69 win over Duquesne.

Andino (G, 6-2, 175, Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) totaled 19 points, four rebounds and four assists in two non-conference wins last week. He shot 63.6 percent from the field (7-of-11) and 5-of-8 (63%) from 3-point range in a 78-69 win over Duquesne.

Smith (F, 6-4, 185, Jr., Chico, Calif.) finished with 47 points, 22 rebounds, nine assists, nine steals and two blocks against Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Evansville. He posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Eastern Michigan, while scoring a season-high 22 points against Evansville.

Craig Bowman (FAMU) finished with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists against East Carolina.

Marcel Boyd (HOW) recorded a career-high 14 rebounds and seven points in a 73-60 win over South Carolina.

James Daniel, III (HOW) averaged 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals against South Alabama and Fordham.

Nimrod Hillard (NCCU) registered 25 points, on 9-of-12 shooting, in a 67-64 win over Jackson State.
 
Kendall Gray (DSU) recorded 15 rebounds, 11 points and two assists in a 66-56 loss to Temple.
 
Amere May (DSU) finished with 22 points and seven rebounds in a 66-56 loss to Temple.

Jordan Parks (NCCU) recorded 11 points, 13 rebounds, a block and a steal in a 67-64 win over Jackson State.

Jermaine Ruttley (FAMU) notched 16 points, six boards and four steals against East Carolina.
