NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State Department of Athletics announced Monday that 126 of its student-athletes earned Athletics Director’s Honor Roll recognition for the fall semester.
To make the honor roll, athletes must achieve a 3.0 grade-point average for the semester.
Football had the most student-athletes on the list, with 28. The next-highest figures came from the NSU men’s track and field team (18), the women’s track and field and baseball teams (17 each), volleyball (11), softball (10), women’s basketball (7), women’s tennis (6), bowling (5), men’s basketball (4) and men’s tennis (3).
The women’s tennis team had 100 percent of its roster achieve honor roll status, the highest of any NSU sports program. Other programs with at least half their student-athletes recognized were men’s tennis (75 percent), women’s track (68 percent) volleyball (65 percent), softball (56 percent), men’s track (56 percent) and baseball (52 percent).
In addition, four student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester: Daniel Grauel and Igor Braga of the men’s tennis team, Sean Moriarty of the softball squad, and volleyball player Jasmin Flowers.
