MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Rae Corbo of Norfolk State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  Braennan Farrar of Morgan State earned Rookie of the Week honors, while North Carolina A&T State’s Eboni Ross was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Corbo (G, 5-6, Sr., Englewood, N.J.) shot 51-percent (18-of-35) from the field against Marshall and East Carolina. She recorded a career-high 37 points, including five 3-pointers, in a 73-71 loss to Marshall. Corbo also added 15 points, three assists and two steals against East Carolina.

Farrar (G, 5-6, Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) averaged 13.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals at the Chattanooga Christmas Classic. She finished with 20 points, five assists and four steals in a loss to Tennessee Tech.

Ross (F/C, 6-3, r-Jr., Columbia, S.C.) totaled 26 rebounds, nine blocked shots and four steals against Appalachian State, Tennessee Tech and UT-Chattanooga. She registered a career-high blocked shots, along with eight rebounds, in a 54-49 victory over Tennessee Tech. Offensively, Ross registered a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds in an overtime loss to Appalachian State.

Olivia Antilla (FAMU) shot 8-of-15 (53-percent) from the floor to finish with 22 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Southeastern Louisiana.

Cheyenne Brown (HOW) registered 15 points, on 6-of-14 shooting, in 32 minutes against Virginia.

Tierra Hawkins (DSU) averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals against Central Michigan and Detroit.

Te’Shya Heslip (HOW) recorded 14 points, four rebounds, two steals and two assists against Temple.

Dawn King (FAMU) finished with 16 points, on 6-of-15 shooting, in a loss to Southeastern Louisiana.

Nia Roberts (NSU) grabbed 22 rebounds and blocked four shots against Marshall and East Carolina.

Moengaroa Subritzky (UMES) finished with 10 points and three boards in a loss to American.

Shawnee Sweeney (UMES) recorded 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals against American.

Malia Tate-DeFreitas (HAM) finished with 20 points, including three 3-pointers, in a loss to James Madison.

Zuri White (MSU) recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals in a loss to Tennessee Tech.

Emily Williams (B-CU) finished with 15 points and three rebounds in a loss to Akron.

Kailyn Williams (B-CU) registered seven points, seven blocked shots and five rebounds against Texas State.
