Lady Hornets Continue Slide, Fall at Detroit
DETROIT, Mich. – The Delaware State women’s basketball team (1-9) concluded its back-to-back road slate on Thursday night in Michigan with a 74-52 loss to the Detroit Titans (5-5).
With this defeat, the Lady Hornets extended their losing streak to six games, whereas Detroit picked up its fourth win in the last five games.
The Titans finished the evening shooting 49 percent (27-of-55). Leading three Titans in double figures was guard Rosanna Reynolds 22 points (7-of-11), who also was a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.
Delaware State, on the other hand, was limited to just 38 percent (21-of-56), in addition to being held to its lowest scoring output of the season. Detroit natives Raine Bankston (6-of-12) and Raven Bankston (6-of-15) finished with a team-high 14 points, while Hawkins tallied her third double-double of the season with 10 points (5-of-8) and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Coming up, Delaware State will conclude its season-long seven-game road trip on Dec. 30 (5 p.m.) against the ACC’s Pitt Panthers.

Howard struggles at home against Temple
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Looking to finish their 2014 home schedule on a high note, the Howard women's basketball team instead found itself on the wrong side of a 48-78 defeat at the hands of the Temple University Owls on Thursday evening at Burr Gymnasium.
For the seventh time in 11 games, redshirt sophomore guard Te’Shya Heslip led Howard (1-10) in scoring, registering 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 shooting from the foul line. Heslip has scored 10 or more points in seven straight games and eight of the team's 11.
Junior center Victoria Gonzales, who has battled injuries all season and missed four of 11 games, scored 12 points to post her first double digit effort of the season. Senior forward Cheyenne Brown added 11 points, her third consecutive game in double figures.
Temple produced four double-digit scorers and was paced by Tanaya Atkinson's 22-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The Lady Bison will look to rebound this weekend when the team faces the University of Virginia on Sunday, December 21 at 6 p.m.
