MEAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY MEN'S BASKETBALL HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – RaShid Gaston of Norfolk State was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.  DSU’s Kendall Gray was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Gaston (F, 6-9, 240, Jr., Warren, Ohio) averaged 24.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists against Hofstra and Morgan State. He shot 66-percent (8-of-12) from the field to finish with 20 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in an 85-65 win over Morgan State. He also tallied a career-high 28 points with four boards against Hofstra.

Gray (C, 6-10, 240, Sr., Dover, Del.) finished with a career-high 21 boards and 12 points to help the Hornets to a 60-53 win over Delaware.  He also grabbed 13 rebounds and three blocks against Hawai’i.

 

Other Top Performances

Ryan Andino (UMES) registered 11 points, on 4-of-8 shooting, in a loss to North Carolina Central.

Quinton Chievous (HAM) averaged a double-double of 14.5 rebounds and 11.5 points against Tennessee State and Coppin State.

Delino Dear (DSU) averaged 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in two non-conference games. 

Malik Gray (NSU) tallied 10 points and four rebounds versus Hofstra and Morgan State.

Dwight Meikle (HAM) totaled 30 points in back-to-back wins over Tennessee State and Coppin State.

Mike Myers (UMES) averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists against UMBC and North Carolina Central.

Clemmye Owens (B-CU) finished with 19 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal in a 52-47 win against Jacksonville. 

Jordan Parks (NCCU) averaged 20.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in back-to-back victories over Johnson & Wales and Maryland Eastern Shore.
