MEAC ANNOUNCES WOMEN?S BASKETBALL WEEKLY HONORS

NORFOLK, Va. – Morgan State senior Tracey Carrington was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Norfolk State’s Kayla Roberts was named Rookie of the Week, while Maryland Eastern Shore junior Alexis Udoji and Bethune-Cookman sophomore Kailyn Williams earned Co-Defensive Players of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.

Carrington (Sr., 5-9, G, Baltimore, Md.) averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, and three steals to help Morgan State defeat Wesley and Washington Adventist. She also scored 27 points (14-of-19), grabbed five rebounds, and two steals against Texas Tech. Carrington paced the Lady Bears with 27 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three steals in a win against Wesley.

Roberts (Fr., 6-1, F, Miami Gardens, Fla.) averaged 9.0 points and 6.0 rebounds against Virginia Tech, Radford, and Hofstra. She logged 20 points, including 8-of-8 from the free throw line and eight rebounds against Radford.

Udoji (Jr., 6-4, F, Randolph, Mass.) totaled 16 rebounds and nine blocked shots against Marshall and VCU. She also grabbed nine rebounds and four blocks against Marshall.

Williams (So., 6-5, C, New Orleans, La.) totaled 20 rebounds (17 defensive), 12 blocks, and eight steals against Florida State, Jacksonville, and East Carolina. She grabbed 12 rebounds (11 defensive), six steals, and two blocks against East Carolina.

Other Top Performers: 

Rae Corbo (NSU) scored a game-high 24 points and three rebounds against Virginia Tech.

Braennan Farrar (MSU) tallied 13 points, four rebounds, and three assists in a win against Washington Adventist.

Te’Shya Heslip (Howard) finished with 32 points, on 11-of-18 shooting against New Hampshire.

Tyler Hobgood (Hampton) set a career-high with 13 rebounds against Quinnipiac.

Jessica Long (UMES) poured in 17 points, four rebounds, and three steals against VCU. 

April McRae (NCAT) logged 23 points, four rebounds, and two blocks against William & Mary.

Taneka Rubin (FAMU) recorded 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks against Alabama State.

Malia Tate-DeFreitas (Hampton) notched 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals against Kansas State.

Zuri White (MSU) grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds against Texas Tech.
