NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton senior Vendula Strakova and Bethune-Cookman junior Hazel Ortiz-Rosado were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Volleyball Players of the Week. Florida A&M’s Pamela Soriano earned Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced on Monday.
Strakova (RS, 6-0, Sr., Brno, Czech Republic) led the Lady Pirates to a 2-0 record last weekend with a pair of double-doubles in kills and digs. Strakova finished with 27 kills and 11 digs in a 3-2 victory at Coppin State, and 22 kills and 19 digs in a 3-1 win over Howard.
Ortiz-Rosado (S, 5-7, Jr., Oviedo, Fla.) tallied 89 assists, 23 digs, seven kills, and three aces in matches against North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T. She logged 47 assists, 16 digs, and seven kills in a 3-2 win over North Carolina Central.
Soriano (OH, 5-10, Fr., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) totaled 36 kills, 10 digs, and two aces to help FAMU defeat North Carolina A&T and Savannah State. She had a season-high 21 kills in a 3-0 victory against Savannah State.

Kirby Anderson (SCSU) recorded 11 kills, nine digs, seven blocks, and three aces against Savannah State.
Khaila Donaldson (Howard) notched 15 kills and 12 digs against Maryland Eastern Shore.
Kirstin Fink (UMES) tallied 24 assists and 13 kills in matches against American, Howard, and Coppin State.
Arianna Hayden (MSU) recorded 17 kills and three digs in a game against Delaware State.
Maya Horner (CSU) recorded a career-high .345 hitting percentage against Hampton.
Marissa Lawrence (SCSU) registered 16 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 win against Savannah State.
Ashley McCarthy (NCCU) record a career-high 24 kills and three blocks against Bethune-Cookman.
Rakaya Neely (BCU) charted eight kills in a 3-2 win against North Carolina Central.
Dominique Parker (NSU) recorded 13 kills against Morgan State.
Ariel Richard (CSU) became the all-time kills leader at Coppin State after recording 35 kills in against Hampton and Maryland Eastern Shore.
Ashley Smith (UMES) registered a double-double with 16 digs and 11 kills against UC Riverside.
Brooke Stamnes (NCAT) tallied 19 digs and 15 kills against Bethune-Cookman.
