DOVER, Del. -- Friday afternoon, the Delaware State women’s basketball program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season, headlined by 19 out of its 31 games played away from Memorial Hall.
To open the season, the Lady Hornets will take part in the Akron Classic, hosted by the Akron Zips, against Northern Kentucky (Nov. 14) and Binghamton (Nov. 15).
The following week, DSU will head to Virginia, aiming for its second straight win over Atlantic 10 foe George Mason (Nov. 19). Last season, the Lady Hornets pulled out a comeback 90-83 overtime victory at home over the Patriots.
In its home opener, meanwhile, Delaware State will welcome Millersville to Memorial Hall on Nov. 24 (5:30 p.m.), followed by a road contest at Mount St. Mary’s on Nov. 26 (7 p.m.).
Then, the Lady Hornets will head to Las Vegas, Nev. for the Lady Rebel Round-Up to face host UNLV on Nov. 29 (3 p.m.) and the winner or loser of Northern Illinois and South Dakota State the following day (3 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.).
After its stint out west, DSU will wrap up its seven-game road swing against the ACC’s Virginia (Dec. 6) and Pittsburgh (Dec. 30), along with Central Michigan (Dec. 16) and Detroit (Dec. 18).
To begin 2015, the Lady Hornets will play four out of their next five games at home, beginning with their first conference contest against Morgan State on Jan. 10 (2 p.m.). After facing Howard two days later on the road (5 p.m.), DSU will then host Wilmington (Jan. 14), South Carolina State (Jan. 17) and Savannah State (Jan. 19) in what will be its longest home stretch of the season.
Next up for the Columbia Blue & Red will be a four-game road trip featuring North Carolina A&T (Jan. 24), North Carolina Central (Jan. 26), South Carolina State (Jan. 31) and NJIT (Feb. 3), followed by a back-to-back home slate against Bethune-Cookman (Feb. 7) and Florida A&M (Feb. 9).
To wrap up the regular season, the Lady Hornets will play four of their final seven games on the road against UMES (Feb. 14), Hampton (Feb. 21), Norfolk State (Feb. 23) and Coppin State (March 5), whereas its home opponents will be against Coppin State (Feb. 16), UMES (Feb. 28) and Hampton (March 2).
As for the MEAC Tournament, it will take place in Norfolk, Va. on March 10 – 15.
