NCCU's Emanuel Chapman inks professional deal

DURHAM, N.C. – Former point guard Emanuel Chapman signed his first professional contract with SKP Banska Bystrica of the Slovakian Basketball League.

“It’s like a breath of fresh air,” said Chapman.  “It feels surreal and I am more than prepared coming from NCCU.  I want to thank everybody that had anything to do with this process.”

Chapman finished his career as NCCU’s all-time leader in assists with 617 during his four successful seasons in the Bull City.  He also set the single season recorded with 217 helpers during the 2013-14 campaign, a year in which the Eagles finished 28-6 and earned its first-ever berth into the NCAA Tournament at the Division I level following a MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) regular season and tournament championship.

“This means everything to me,” said NCCU head coach LeVelle Moton.  “Incredible accomplishment for that young man to have an opportunity to take care of his family playing the game that he loves.  He is the heart and soul of NCCU basketball”

Chapman played in 122 games, starting the final 65 of his career.  Scored 533 points and finished with 173 steals which was second all-time at NCCU.

Banska Bystrica is located in central Slovakia along the Hron River and is also the sixth most populous municipality.
